ARE THE AMHSEC COURSE CREDITS SOMETHING I CAN USE IF I WANT TO GET A SOCIAL WORK DEGREE?
No, the AMHSEC courses are not for degree credits but are designed as continuing education courses for social workers who've already completed a degree in the field of social work. Continuing education credits are issued to social workers upon successful completion of a course and are then applied to state licensing requirements.

I AM INTERESTED IN BECOMING A SOCIAL WORKER. HOW CAN I OBTAIN MORE INFORMATION?
The Council on Social Work Education has a website which provides relevant information. In addition, its site has links to schools in the country offering degrees in the field of social work, Their website is www.cswe.org. You could also contact the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). Their website is www.naswdc.org.


I AM NOT A SOCIAL WORKER, MAY I STILL TAKE THE COURSES?
All AMHSEC online courses may be taken by any interested registrant. However, they are approved for continuing education credits for social workers. If you are in any other related profession and wish to use our CEUs, you should first check with your professional regulatory board.

WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF THE COURSES?
Each of the AMHSEC courses is in text form divided into 6 separate lessons. Each lesson contains electronic testing components that help to better focus on the material as well as to self-assess your understanding of the material. Some courses contain useful forms that may be downloaded and printed for future use. Most courses have suggested readings to further enhance your knowledge base. These are not a required part of a course. Because of the format that allows you to work at your own pace and schedule from the comfort of home or office, there is no interactive component. We do however encourage you to contact us with any questions you have. These will be answered either directly from the course instructor or indirectly through the AMHSEC coordinator.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE A COURSE?
Each of the courses consisting of 6 separate lessons, takes approximately 40 minutes per lesson. Some of the courses' lessons are shorter. You may finish a course in its entirety immediately or once registered, take up to 90 days to complete a course. Each of the current courses earns 4 CEU's.

WHEN I'VE FINISHED A COURSE, HOW DO I GET MY CEU'S? At the end of each course you will first be asked to do an evaluation form containing instructions for submission, you will also fill out the CEU request form with necessary demographic information. This is automatically sent to us, and we will then send you your CEU certificate within a few days.

WILL I BE ABLE TO USE THE CEU CREDITS IN MY OWN STATE?
AMHSEC, provider #1098, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. The Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services maintains responsibility for the program. Social Workers should contact their regulatory board to review the current continuing education requirements for licensure renewal..
